Larry Davis Brings Skills, Expertise to SSRC

February 4, 2015 – BIRMINGHAM, AL – Special Shapes Refractory Co., Inc. (, the leading provider of world class refractory products to furnace operators around the globe, announced that it has added Larry Davis to the staff at the company’s Bessemer, Alabama, headquarters.

Davis attended The University of Montevallo and The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with a focus on mechanical engineering and business. In addition, Larry brings over 40 years of experience in industrial furnace construction and refractory lining installation to Special Shapes, having served in a number of roles at A.P. Green Services, Empire Refractory Specialists, and most recently with Thorpe Specialty Services Corporation.

Larry has served in various trustee positions with the Associated General Contractors of America – Alabama Branch. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Grief Support Service in Birmingham, Alabama. An avid automobile enthusiast, Larry’s collection of several cars includes antiques from the late 1920’s and other vehicles with a primary focus on high performance and muscle cars from the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s.
